Edward F Thaney, CPA, CVA, has been the managing partner of Saxon, Secord, Thaney & Associates, LLC since 2007 and Thaney & Associates, CPAs, P.C.; a 35 year firm with offices in New York and Florida, since 1980. Mr. Thaney is also President of BIZunion, Inc., Transworld Business Advisors of Rochester and TLR, Inc. With CPA licenses in New York, Florida and Pennsylvania, Mr. Thaney is able to provide his clients with expertise and versatility that many others in his industry cannot. He performs work of financial accounting, tax, tax & financial planning, business development, succession planning, mergers and acquisitions and valuations for corporations, partnerships and individuals specializing in retail, auto, restaurant, construction, professional services and real estate.
With his CVA designation (Certified Valuation Analysts), Mr. Thaney has the education and experience to assist his clients with mergers, acquisitions and valuations. Understanding the complexities surrounding both the art and science of capitalization/discount rates, he has the mastery to build a case for the rate used representing his clients in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
Mr. Thaney is a shareholder and officer at various companies across the country and has contributed time as a current or past board member of several non- and for-profit organizations such as NYS Golf Foundation, NYS Golf Association, Rochester District Golf Association Foundation, St. Mary’s Hospital, Adam Walsh Foundation and Hughes Group, Inc. including subsidiaries; American Contracting & Services, Inc., Hughes Development, LLC, Hydro-Technologies, Inc. and Modified Concrete Suppliers, LLC.
He is an alumnus of Aquinas Institute of Rochester and Niagara University and a member of the Florida Board of Accountancy, NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania State Society of CPAs, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), PCPS of AICPA, CPA Auto Dealer Consultants Association (CADCA), Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA) and a RAN ONE Master, a business advisory skills development program.
Mr. Thaney divides his time between homes in West Palm Beach, FL and Rochester, NY. When not working for the firm, Mr. Thaney enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
